DescriptionGoethe-Monument-Chicago-2005- by Hermann Hahn-b.jpg
English: Goethe Monument in Chicago, Illinois, sculpted by Hermann Hahn (1913); dedicated on June 16, 1914. See Search results for Goethe Hahn. Collections Search Center. The Smithsonian Institution. Archived from the original on 2012-03-27. Retrieved on 2011-08-17. Statue is located southwest of the well-known corner of W. Diversey Parkway and N. Lake Shore Drive. It fronts on Cannon Drive (just south of Diversey) and is east of N. Lakeview Ave. It is part of something of a sculpture garden with a gold statue of Alexander Hamilton and a more modest statue of John Peter Altgeld nearby. Also a big statue of elks at the nearby Elks Memorial Building, and something about world peace and brotherhood across the street from the Elks.
