DescriptionGhatiyari Gandai temple and ruins, Chhattisgarh - 40.jpg
English: Gandai was once an important Hindu, Buddhist and Jain temples site. Remains of 9th to 14th-century temples have been found spread over a 5 kilometer radius.
These sites show stone statues with intentional damage (chopped limbs, chopped heads, defacement of nose, ear, face and breasts/sexual organs) as well as natural erosion (more uniform). Ruins so far uncovered have revealed Hindu deities such as Ganesha, Jain Tirthankaras and Buddhists iconography.
Gandai is about 80 kilometers northwest of Raipur. The site is under ASI management.
