File:Funerary apron of Neferuptah.jpg

Original file(3,391 × 3,315 pixels, file size: 2.12 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

Description This apron is made of a belt of tiny faience beads shaped in a geometric pattern and was found in the intact tomb of Princess Neferuptah at Hawara, Egypt. The two semi-oval pieces were probably the clasp and may have been covered with a plate bearing the name of Neferuptah. This apron was probably laced around the abdomen of the mummy of Neferuptah over her bandages. Formed from blue frit and faience, this object's catalogue number is JE 90189. Neferuptah was the daughter of the powerful Egyptian pharaoh Amenemhat III and the sister of Sobekneferu who both ruled the Twelfth Dynasty of Egypt during the 19th and 18th century BCE. It is today on display at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo.
