Summary

Description
English: The pediment, the dome and the lantern of the Panthéon in Paris.
The name of the relief is "The Land of Fathers (or Homeland) crowning the illustrious men". "The Liberty" is giving crowns to her, and she distributes to illustrious men, left to right: Bichat, Rousseau, Voltaire, then David (the painter), Cuvier, La Fayette, then Carnot, Berthollet, Laplace, and then Malesherbes, Mirabeau, Monge and Fénelon
"History" is writing the names on plaques, and at right one may see Bonaparte conducting anonymous soldiers of all arms, even a veteran, and a young drumboy. Both sides, right and left corners, one may see students of the Ecole Polytechnique, which is a military and scientific academy for cadets officers.
The inscription means "To the great men, the homeland (is) grateful"
