2001 Framus Ruby Riot. An amazing hand wired, all valve amplifier. 30 watts, dual 12" speakers (one Celestion Greenback and one Vintage 30 speaker), lush reverb and searing drive. An amazing amp. Two "complaints" though: 1. The handles suck. They're nice, supple leather, but not strong. 2. I wish I would have bought one in the kick ass ruby tolex instead of black! I've got it loaded with JJs in the output stage, and same with the pre-amp, bar one NOS Mullard at the input. I'm running 12AU7s in most of the preamp positions to tame the high-gain layout. It's yielded a much more versatile tone stack. Very nice... I love this amp. The clean channel is very reminiscent of the cleanest AC30 you've ever heard, and the lead channel is a nice blend of early JTM Marshall/ hot rodded Vox AC30 times ten. The key here is valve rectification... nothing comes close. |
