English: Fountain Place, one of the oldest houses in McGregor, was built in 1862. The Mayor of McGregor and 'Who Owns Whom' founder, Robin McGregor, descendant of the Rev. Andrew McGregor (after whom the town was named) resided in this property. The property originally consisted of a Manor house, a row of four cottages in front and another cottage in front of those. The very front cottage was demolished and the middle two of the row of four also. The remaining three buildings were then joined together to create one U-shaped building with a central courtyard. Due to its age (1862), it was declared a National Monument and, as such, is now known as a Provincial Heritage Site - SAHRA file number 9/2/080/0002-307. Fountain Place is built on erven 189 and 190, Meul Street, McGregor, Western Cape and is now run as a boutique Bed & Breakfast. http://www.fountainplace.co.za
