Although this picture is subject to copyright, it is allowed for fair use because the use of a single cover "to illustrate an article discussing the book in question" is allowed. Specifically:

   * 1. it is a low resolution copy of a book cover;
   * 2. it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the book in any way; this version of the book is out of print
   * 3. copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the cover artwork on another book;

The article is used on a page about the book's editor. One of the main sections discusses how he created the line of encyclopedias (of which the image shows the first edition).
