"La bandera que representa el municipio de Rivera está formada así: color blanco y verde por iguales partes, franja transversal tricolor y un manojo de espigas en el asta. El color blanco simboliza la paz, la fe y la alegría de su gente. El color verde esmeralda, la esperanza, la vegetación y los campos cultivados. El transversal tricolor significa que la patria grande está sobre la patria chica. Las espigas, la representación del mejor arroz del Huila."
