English: First known coat of arms of Croatia present on the Croatian coins from 1196. In the 19th cent. it became the symbol of the "Illyrian movement" and entered the present coat of arms of the Republic of Croatia with the shield color changed in blue.(by Azaghal)
According to so called "Illyrian Armorials" published between 16th and 18th century this particular coat of arms represent medieval Bosnian staterepresent medieval Bosnian state, not Croatia. In the 19th century elements were used for symbol of the "Illyrian movement", and variants and/or elements are later appropriated by many modern CoA in Balkans, along with variant used as an element on present coat of arms of the Republic of Croatia with the shield color changed in blue.(by Santasa99)
