"Всё холера виновата" (It is Cholera to Blame)

Художником показан случай сухой холеры (cholera sicca). У умершего цианотичный цвет лица, характерный для такого клинического течения болезни. Видимо Федотов, большой мастер жанровых сцен, отразил какие-то свои собственные наблюдения над холерой. Его картина воспроизводит обстановку страха перед холерой, охватившего русское общество во время ее третьей пандемии.
