Summary

Description
English: A U.S. Navy Vought F8U-2N (F-8D) Crusader (BuNo 148680) from Fighter Squadron 132 (VF-132) "Peg Leg Petes". VF-132 was assigned to Carrier Air Group 13 (CVG-13). Both were established on 21 August 1961 and deployed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CVA-64) for her shakedown cruise in the Atlantic Ocean from 3 March to 6 May 1962. Then, on 1 October 1962, CVG-13 (and with it VF-132) were disestablished again.
The F-8D 148680 was later converted to an F-8H and flew with VF-51 from the USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31) in 1968. During that deployment 148680 suffered an engine explosion over Gulf of Tonkin on 10 September 1968 and was lost. The pilot ejected and was rescued.
