| Description |
English: This avenue of sweet chestnut and lime trees on Wanstead Flats is attributed to John Evelyn (1620-1706), but is more likely to be the work of George London (c. 1640–1714) who was commissioned Richard Child, 1st Earl Tylney, to design the gardens for Wanstead House. It was one of several similar avenues, all leading towards The Basin, an octagonal ornamental lake in front of the house. |
