This aquatint is based on a picture by Hunter of the Cypress Garden on the outskirts of Bangalore in the late Eighteenth Century. This garden was established during the rule of Haider Ali Khan of Mysore (c.1722 - 1782), and was enlarged upon by his eldest son, Tipu Sultan (1753 -1799).
