Earl Cook was born in Woodburn, Ontairo in 1881 and moved to Alberta in 1902, homesteading near Pincher Station. Cook ran in the 1921 Alberta general election in the electoral district of Pincher Creek, winning the seat. He was re-elected in the 1926 election, and narrowly defeated in the 1930 election. He ran again in 1935 to regain his seat, finishing a distant fourth place. Cook was the president of the Pincher Coop Association for 14 years.
