Summary

Description
English: Plaques commemorating the Darlingside National Historic Site of Canada, alongside the Thousand Islands Parkway, on a rise overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Commencing in the 1830s, Thomas Darling operated a wood depot and general store next to the river, which provided an essential fueling service to steamboats travelling from Montreal into the interior. Darlingside is a rare and relatively intact surviving example of the once-numerous wood depots on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River. Leeds and the Thousand Islands, Ontario, Canada.
