Object history
Deutsch: Die Figur des Märtyrerpapstes Sixtus II. verweist auf den Patron des früheren Stifts Schliersee und der Pfarrkirche. Das Wappen wurde dem Ort 1913 verliehen, dann nach einem Entwurf von Otto Hupp mit einigen stilistischen Änderungen erneut 1926. Die wichtigste Änderung bezog sich darauf, dass der Heilige im Stiftswappen und ersten Gemeindewappen in der Linken ein Buch, im Wappen von 1926 stattdessen ein Schwert hält. Schliersee wurde 1919 zum Markt erhoben. Da ein Heiliger im Wappen in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus nicht in die politische Landschaft passte, wurde 1938 eine Wappenänderung vorbereitet (Entwurf von Werz), die jedoch wegen des Krieges nicht zur Ausführung kam.
