Object history
Deutsch: Das für den Ortsnamen (= zu der neuen Kirche) „redende" Wappenbild begegnet bereits im Gerichtssiegel der Gemeinde aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Hier ist die Kirche zusätzlich mit Pflanzenornamenten umgeben und trägt auf dem Giebel des Schiffs einen Wetterhahn. Nachdem die Gemeinde im Verlauf des 19. Jahrhunderts das ansprechende Siegelbild durch einen von einer Krone überhöhten Schild mit den Großbuchstaben NK ersetzt hatte, nahm sie im Jahre 1908 das vom Generallandesarchiv vorgeschlagene Wappen an, in dem das Gebäude der Zeichnung im alten Siegel nachgestaltet ist. Die 1908 festgelegte „natürliche" Farbe der Kirche wurde 1961 korrigiert, die Flagge am 8. August 1989 vom Landratsamt Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis verliehen.
