Deutsch: Der Eichenbaum steht für die Deutung des Ortsnamens Lochum: Ort am Lohe- oder Eichenwald. Der Bergkegel "Welterstein" ist ein Wahrzeichen der Gemeinde. Er besteht aus Basaltgestein und wird im Volksmund "Hänsel's Häuschen" genannt. Die Wellenlinie beschreibt den Lochumer Bach, der heute kanalisiert ist. Er war die Grenze zwischen dem Kurfürstentum Trier und der Reichsgrafschaft Sayn-Hachenburg, was gleichzeitig auch die konfessionelle Grenze war. |
