Object history Der Großbuchstabe D ist seit dem 16. Jahrhundert in Dettinger Siegeln als Wappenfigur belegt. Spätestens im 17. Jahrhundert kam das Schildhaupt mit der württembergischen Hirschstange hinzu. Es bezieht sich auf die territoriale Zugehörigkeit der Gemeinde. Nach allerlei Abweichungen griff die Gemeinde im Jahre 1936 wieder auf den Buchstaben D und das württembergische Schildhaupt zurück. Die Verleihung des Wappens und der Flagge durch das Landratsamt Esslingen erfolgte am 15. August 1977.
