Built by Chance Bros. (England) and assembled in 1879, Currie lighthouse which stands 45.7 meters tall, on the southern end of Currie Harbour, commenced operation in 1880. King Island's second lighthouse reduced the large number of shipwrecks on the west coast of the island.
