English: Margaret Girstner and Joseph Woorm of Brooklyn, whose marriage at the American Radio Exposition in New York in 1922 was broadcast over the New York station WEAF. Rev. B. F. Saxon, left, officiated. It was estimated that over half of the radio audience within range listened in, along with the bride's family, who could not be present. Radio broadcasting only began in 1920, setting off a "radio craze" during the early Roaring 20s which included stunts like this. Exhibitors at the Exposition gave the couple a receiver, bottom, as a wedding present.
This 1923 issue of Radio World magazine would have the copyright renewed in 1951. Online page scans of the Catalog of Copyright Entries, published by the US Copyright Office can be found here. [1] Search of the Renewals for Periodicals for 1950, 1951, and 1952 show no renewal entries for Radio World. Therefore the magazine's copyright was not renewed and it is in the public domain. In addition the photo itself was taken in 1922.
