Deutsch: Die Oberstadt von Bonifacio steht auf einem langgestreckten Kalk- und Sandsteinfelsen der steil zum Meer hin abfällt. Direkt in den Felsen wurde die Treppe des Königs von Aragon gehauen. Sie diente als Fluchtweg und Zugang zu einer Süßwasserquelle.
English: The upper town of Bonifacio is located on a lime and sandstone plateau above a steep sea cliff. A stairway, called “Stairs of the King of Aragon”, was once carved into the cliffs. It served as escape route and access path to a natural fountain.
