A címerszerzők, a két Garázda testvér és Szilágyi László, Zsigmond királynak régi, kipróbált hűségű emberei. Hűségüket különösen akkor bizonyították be fényesen, mikor a király trónja a Nápolyi László trónkövetelő jogai érdekében szított délvidéki forrongás és ennek utójátéka gyanánt Hervoja spalatói herczeg által keltett mozgalmak miatt veszélyben forgott. A lázadás középpontja és tán legveszedelmesebb színtere Bosznia volt, mely az egyre terjeszkedő török hatalom érdekszférájába is közvetlenül beleesett. Boszniának egyik erőssége, mondhatni egyik részének kulcsa Szrebernik vára volt; ennek a várnak volt védelmezője ezernyi veszély közepette közel négy éven át a három címerszerző. Átszenvedett éhség, szomjúság, nélkülözések, fenyegető veszedelmek nem tántorították el őket a király hűségétől. Céljuk teljesedésbe ment; Hervoja a király pártjára tért át, és Bosznia fontos vára megmaradt Zsigmond kezén. Ezt a hű szolgálatot meséli el ékes szavakkal az oklevél elbeszélő része.
A címerszerzők leszármazottjai a horogszegi Szilágyiak, kiknek családjából való Erzsébet, Mátyás király anyja, és Mihály az ország kormányzója; a címer-azonosságból tudjuk meg, hogy a XV. század nagy humanista költője, Janus Pannonius, a Garázda nemzetség leszármazottja; és hogy a nemzetség a Telekiekben ma is virágzik. E történelmi nevek viselői után maradt emlékekből ki tudjuk mutatni, hogy az 1409-ben kapott címer használatában folytonosság van és hogy azon lényeges változás nem történt. A tapasztalható változatok a következők: a címerábrázolás a későbbi használatban jobbra fordul; a vad kecske sokszor nem lángokból, hanem arany koronából emelkedik ki. Gyakran hiányzik a fenyőfa, vagy azt egy lombos ág pótolja. A címer legutolsó változata a Teleki grófok összetett címerének szívpajzsában látható és ez vörös (sokszor arany) mezőben természetes (sokszor fekete) ágaskodó vadkecske, a mely jobb első lábában (sokszor mindkettőben) háromlevelű zöld ágat tart. Habár a színek és az ábrázolás változtak, de a lényeg, a főcímeralak megmaradt.
