Description
English: Char Triomphal, Employe' pour present a la Royne (Triumphal Chariot used as a present to the Queen). Engraving of a South German automaton chariot clock given to the Queen of France Marie de' Medici in 1603 during a visit of the Kings to the city of Metz. The engraving was included in a book published in 1610 titled "Voyage du Roi à Metz", Metz, 1610, by Abraham Fabert. It shows the god Eros in a four-wheeled selfmoving chariot being pulled by two deers.
