Description
English: Opened in September 2005 the dual-tube four-lane Chakvi-Makhinjauri tunnel of 650 m was the first modern upgrade in the S2 highway. Construction initially started in 2001, but came to a halt in April 2004 due to the Adjara crisis in that period. In spring 2005 works resumed and the tunnel was opened 6 months later.
