Summary

Description
English: Calenick. Calenick is a hamlet about a mile south of Truro at the head of what was once a navigable creek but which is now silted up. Calenick was the site of early tin smelting works. In 1794 the smelting house here had ten furnaces. The tin powder would have been mixed with coal dust and smelted in small teacup sized pottery crucibles. These 'Calenick Crucibles' were made here in a pottery set up by Henry Rosewarne in the 1770s.
