English: Calcite
Locality: Blackstone Mine, Shullsburg, Upper Mississippi Valley District, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
Inside this gemmy, striated crystal of calcite you can see an earlier scalenohedral calcite crystal that was engulfed as the crystal grew later with a completely different form! In person, the crystal really glows -- it looks much more dull in the pic for some reason but in reality has the glimmer these Shullsburg calcites are known for. 3.3 x 2.9 x 1.7cm
