Description
English: CROSSWICKS CREEK III SITE; HERE WHERE CROSSWICKS CREEK AND THE DELAWARE RIVER JOIN 44 CONTINENTAL SHIPS WERE DESTROYED IN A BRITISH RAID IN 1778 WHERE THEY WERE TRAPPED FOLLOWING THE BRITISH CAPTURE OF PHILADELPHIA. TWO OF THESE SHIPS STILL LIE UNDER THE WATER OF CROSSWICKS CREEK. A MONUMENT HAS BEEN ERECTED BY THE COLONIAL DAMES AT THE END OF PRINCE STREET OVERLOOKING THE SITE
