Scatter plot of the calculated annual average global temperatures that would exist in the absence of exponential economic growth since 1800AD. Observed annual average global temperatures are taken from NASA and the increment in temperatures due to economic growth are based on an exponential growth model. Allowing for the natural background variability in climate, in the absence of economic growth, the overall annual average temperatures do not change over time.
