Description
English: The Fairchild Model 24 was a civilian aircraft first produced in 1932. The civilian production Model 24-C8F on display at the U.S. Air Force Museum (civil registration number NC16817) served in the Civil Air Patrol at Coastal Base 2, Rehoboth, Delaware, during WWII. The wartime owner of this airplane, CAP 1Lt. M.M. Wilder, was awarded the Air Medal for his service at Coastal Patrol Base 2. This aircraft has been repainted as it was while flying for the CAP. It was donated to the museum in 1991 by Lt. Col. George L. Wiess, USAF (Ret.), Fort Washington, Md.
