For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Scherl: Unsere Aufnahme gewährt einen Blick in die sogenannte Lange Halle, die in einer Länge von 146m und einer Breite von 12m durch den ganzen Mittelteil des Erweiterungsbaues vor der Flucht der Arbeitsräume der Adjutanten verläuft und unmittelbaren Zugang zu dem neuen Arbeitszimmer hat. Die Fenster der 9,5m hohen Halle öffnen sich also nach der Voßstrasse hin. Die grossen hellen Wandflächen in Stuckmarmor, von denen sich die Profile der Fenster und Türeinfassungen in dunkelrotem Marmor "deutschrot" abheben, werden später Gobelins nach neuen Entwürfen schmücken. Vorläufig sind die Wandteppiche mit Darstellungen aus dem Leben Alexanders des Grossen vom Kunsthistorischen Staatsmuseum in Wien aufgehängt. Die in kräftigen Formen gehaltenen Wandleuchten sind aus vergoldeter Bronze. |
