For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Zittau, Schmalspurbahn, Stellwerk
ADN-Hiekel/ 25.5.90 Bez. Dresden: Vor einhundert Jahren, am 24.11.1890, ging nach 15monatiger Bauzeit die Schmalspurstrecke von Zittau zu den Kurorten Oybin und Jonsdorf in Betrieb. Am 26./27.5. treffen sich in Zittau Esenbahnfreunde aus Ost und West zur Geburtstagsfeier. Der Z.O.J.E. (nach den Anfangsbuchstaben der Städte), im Volksmund "Zug ohne jegliche Eile", sollte in diesem Jahr entsprechend der zentralen Berliner Planung einem Braunkohletagebau zum Opfer fallen. Er fuhr der Planwirtschaft davon und geht nun zuversichtlich in das zweite Jahrhundert seines Bestehens. Auch das Stellwerk gehört zu den technischen Sehenswürdigkeiten. |
