Das Kraftwerk Oberschlesien in Bobrek bei Beuthen O/S.
Mit der Elektrischen fährt man in etwa 20 Minuten von Beuthen nach Bobrek. Das Gesicht diese arbeitsamen Industrieortes ist durch die "Julienhütte" und durch das Kraftwerk Oberschlesien bestimmt. In Oberschlesien kam bekanntlich die 1. Dampfmaschine zum Einsatz und zur Entwicklung. Deutsche Fachleute haben in jahrhundertelanger zäher Arbeit das oberschlesische Industriegebiet erschlossen und zu hoher Blüte gebracht.
Durch die Volksabstimmung am 20. März 1921 legten die Oberschlesier öffentlich das Treuebekenntnis zu ihrer oberschlesischen Heimat und zu ihrem deutschen Vaterland ab. Rd. 60% der Oberschlesier stimmten für das Verbleiben bei Deutschland. Trotzdem wurde der lebendige Industrieorganismus Oberschlesiens zerschnitten und geteilt. U.a. fielen 53 Gruben an Polen, während nur 14 Deutschland verblieben. Die Vertreibung aus der Heimat nach Deutschlands Zusammenbruch 1945 brachte dem "Land unterm Kreuz" erhöhtes Leid. Im Herzen brennt das verletzte Rechtsgefühl.
