Description	A demonstration of a special effect from the 1988 film Brain Damage, in which the protagonist (Brian, pictured, played by Rick Hearst) experiences a hallucination of blood pouring from an earless hole in the side of his head. The top-left image shows Hearst against a wall; the top-right image is the same frame of film, but with much of the left half of the frame removed for the purpose of compositing; the bottom-left image shows a piece of ducting through which fake blood was poured; and the bottom-right image shows the top-right and bottom-left pieces of film composited together, creating the appearance of blood gushing from the character's head.
