The original caption from the newspaper article reads: "Benjamin Franklin Levins, confessed slayer of the Merrell and Rowell families, at left as he appeared two months ago at the time of his arrest, and at right, as he appeared yesterday in court as his trial began." (The article was published July 26, 1927.) The photographer was Carl T. Thoner, a staff member for the Tampa Tribune.
