Summary

Description
English: This image shows a QAPF diagram, used for the classification of igneous rocks when individual mineral grains can be identified. The fields in which basalt is found are highlighted in yellow. Basalts are distinguished from andesites, which also fall into some of these fields, by whether their plagioclase is predominantly sodic (andesite) or calcic (basalt).
