Caution: Independent of British copyright legislation, under the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981, Chapter 45, Section 18(1) [1], "It is [a criminal] offence for any person [resident in the United Kingdom], unless the relevant authority has previously consented in writing, to reproduce on any substance whatsoever, and whether or not on the correct scale, any British currency note or any part of a British currency note." Wikipedia has permission to use images created by the Governor and Company of the Bank of England of banknotes or other currency notes of the Bank without the need for separate licensing authorisations. This only applies to images of such banknotes created by the Bank of England itself.

Separate permissions and licences would need to be sought separately from the Lloyds Banking Group (on behalf of the Bank of Scotland), the Royal Bank of Scotland, Clydesdale Bank, the Bank of Ireland (Northern Ireland), the First Trust Bank, Danske Bank (Northern Ireland) and Ulster Bank.
