Bailey Doogan’s 1992 oil painting "Mea Corpa" illustrates the prime techniques of the artist’s later paintings in its combination of impasto and glazes. The work also reflects Doogan’s Catholic background. The female figure, which was based on a friend of Doogan’s who developed muscular dystrophy, resembles the risen Christ. The painting’s Latin name "Mea Corpa" also references phrases in the Catholic mass.
