English: Portion of the Cassini map showing Auxerre and its surroudings on the north side. The Yonne river crosses the map through the middle, flowing south-north. On its east side a little distance away runs the old road from Autun to Sens. The symbol for the hamlet les Isles (surrounded by a blue rectangle 3 km north of Auxerre) indicates the location of the old abbey of the same name, already destroyed at the time of the making of the map (between around 1730 and 1780).
Français : Carte de Cassini pour Auxerre et la campagne au nord de la ville. La rivière Yonne traverse le centre de cette portion de carte, coulant du sud au nord. Le ru de Baulche vers l'ouest (côté gauche) rejoint l'Yonne en rive gauche à Monéteau; la carte le montre collectant son propre affluent le ru des Étangs, qui montre pas moins de neuf étangs sur deux branches de cours d'eau totalisant environ 9 km de long. En rive droite de l'Yonne à mi-chemin entre Auxerre et Monéteau (3 km au nord d'Auxerre), le symbole pour le hameau les Isles (entouré d'un rectangle bleu) indique l'abbaye des Isles, déjà détruite à l'époque de la réalisation de la carte (entre 1730 et 1780 approx.). Monéteau se trouve à l'extrême bord supérieur de la carte, en rive gauche ; la taille des lettres indique un bourg relativement important. Le premier emplacement de l'abbaye des Isles était au hameau de Celles. Sur cette carte il porte le nom "N-D de Celles" et se trouve à l'ouest d'Auxerre (à gauche), entre les noms "Saint-Georges" et "Auxerre" ; le "N" de "N-D" touche la pointe Est du parc du château de Saint-Georges, inscrit dans un rectangle penché pers l'ouest. |
