Atlantic was built in 1885 by the Continental Iron Works of Greenpoint, New York, and was the first steel-hulled ferryboat in New York service. The photo is a detail of a much larger photograph showing a panoramic view across the East River.

Modifications: Image has been sharply cropped from a much larger photo to show only the ferry, rotated 0.5 degrees, sharpened using unsharp mask at a setting of about 2, had brightness and contrast substantially adjusted and been converted from .tif to .jpg, using GIMP 2.10.14..
