English: EL Aspron Trachy (30mm, 4.59 g, 6h). The Theotokos, orans, standing facing on daïs / Christ standing facing, crowning an emperor to left, holding labarum and akakia. DOC 2b; SB 1984. Near EF, flan crack. This coin type is of disputed geographical and temporal origin; some ascribe it to Andronicus I Comnenus (1183-1185), whereas others ascribe it to Andronicus I Gidus of Trebizond. |
