| Description |
The 11th day of Armenian presidential election protests. At 7:30 am, the peaceful "camp-in" protest at Liberty Square in Yerevan was violently ended by Armenian special forces which used truncheons and electric shock devices to disperse the crowd of around 1,000. At 12:30 pm, a new crowd marches to the French Embassy in a spontaneous demonstration, barricade themselves using abandoned police buses, and grow in number to around 150,000. This picture shows the bus barricade at G. Lusavorich Avenue and Zakian St (northwest of Miasnikyan Square where the bulk of the demonstrators are). The 9:15pm attack by the police and army on the crowd occurred from the right of this picture. |
