English: Freshly-caught specimen of the hatchetfish Argyropelecus olfersii, landed aboard the Irish ship RV Celtic Explorer. The large ventral photophores are visible along the underside of the body as pearlescent ovals. The animal is in overall very good condition, however some of the silvery skin on the body has been abraded while the animal was in the net.
