Summary

Description
English: A cypriot base ring juglet which was used to transport opium in Eygpt during the 18th Dynasty, around 1539 B.C. to 1292 B.C. Along side the jug is an example of an inverted seed pod of Papaver somniferum. It is believed that the jug is in the shape of the pod in order to advertise its contents. Nunn, J. 1996.
