DescriptionAn Óige favourite simple hostel at Glenmalure, Co Wicklow - geograph.org.uk - 346196.jpg
English: An Óige favourite simple hostel at Glenmalure, Co Wicklow Glenmalure Hostel, a small house on the riverside four miles beyond Drumgoff Bridge, was bequeathed to the Association by the late Dr Kathleen Lynn, a significant figure in Irish paediatric care and politics, who died on 14th September 1955. A generous donation of £100 from Dr G Hadden made possible the necessary extension. The hostel was officially opened in June 1956 by President de Valera. A band of volunteers keeps the little hostel operating in fine shape. Creature comforts have been improved in recent years. Here it is on a cold November afternoon. Please contact if you have tales of hostels such as this.
