An American on an outing. On the foreground to the right a dog, behind which an open coach carries an American in a tall hat holding a pipe in his left hand. He is driven by an American driver. In the background an American ship in Yokohama harbor with to its right three rowing boats. Part of a series of foreigners on the wharves of Yokohama, that also includes File:Russen op een uitje-Rijksmuseum NG-663-5.jpeg. Scenes like this are known as Yokohama-e. Carver seal is Kobayashi hori Kane (Kobayashi Kangegorō).
