DescriptionAcquest Development - former Marine Trust Company Williamsville Branch - Williamsville, New York - 20200731.jpg
English: Acquest Development, 5554 Main Street at Rock Street, Williamsville, New York, July 2020. Here we see all the classic features of the Colonial Revival style presented in a simplified form: a symmetrical, boxy brick façade with a pair of parallel projecting cornices ringing the building near its roofline, pierced by an austere Classical pediment that crowns a projecting portion of the façade. The main entrance is framed by a swan's neck pediment and a pair of stylized pilasters, while a side entrance at the west end of the building, under the blade sign, features a fanlight at the top. The building dates to the 1930s, and has been a bank for the majority of its history - it's recorded as being in existence as early as 1939 as a branch of the Buffalo-based Marine Trust Company, an affiliation it would retain for the next several decades through a series of name changes and acquisitions: it became a branch of Marine Midland Bank in 1976, HSBC in 1999, and KeyBank from 2011 through 2016. It's now home to the offices of Acquest Development, a locally-based real estate development company.
