DescriptionStone House, Church Road, Holland Township, NJ.jpg
English: SETTLED CIRCA 1750 BY PIONEER TENANT FARMERS AND DEVELOPED BY THE MID 1800’S INTO A HAMLET FEATURING A GENERAL STORE, BLACKSMITHY, AND SHOE MAKER’S SHOP. THE HOUSE IN THIS PICTURE IS CIRCA 1864.
Note: this house, at 324 Church Road, Holland Township, is not part of the Amsterdam Historic District.
THERE IS SURPRISING LITTLE TO BE SEEN AT THIS SITE. I SPOKE WITH SEVERAL LOCAL RESIDENTS AND NONE OF THE BUILDINGS MENTIONED IS APPARENTLY EXTANT BUT THERE ARE SOME OLD STONE HOUSES LIKE THE ONE IS THIS PICTURE
