English: Former Distinctive unit insignia of the U.S. Army's 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division
Symbolism: Crimson and yellow are the colors of the Ordnance Corps, and the winged cannon ball indicates Airborne Ordnance. Both refer to the present unit's origin as the 782nd Airborne Ordnance Battalion. The pheon, a crossbow arrowhead, symbolizes the assault landing in Normandy and the Rhineland, in which the 782nd Maintenance Battalion, an ancestor of the present unit, participated during World War II. The motto translates to "Skill and Knowledge."
Background: The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 782nd Airborne Ordnance Battalion on 20 September 1954. It was redesignated for the 782nd Maintenance Battalion on 4 August 1958. The insignia was redesignated effective 16 April 1994, for the 782nd Support Battalion, with description and symbolism revised. It was amended to correct the description on 31 January 2007.
