The Shelby Mustang was a high performance version of the Ford Mustang which were built by Shelby America from 1965-1970. Engine; all 1965-66 Shelby Mustangs had the 306 bhp K Code 289 V8 with high riser manifold.
The 1966 car was a little less track orientated, they got the same racing stripes and bonnet scoop as the 65 car. The Shelby now had a back seat, and featured plexiglass rear quarter windows and brake scoops in the rear quarters
Most were Fastbacks, but 6 Convertibles were built.
An option that was also available in 1966 was the Paxton centrifugal supercharger option, lifting power to 400hp.
Shelby also built 936 Black with Gold stripe GT350s for the Hertz rental company, available for rent for $17 day and 17c per mile
